Billing Provider field under Authorization. 

This is the provider the funding source gave the authorization for (if applicable). This should be left blank if the authorization is not based on a specific billing provider. If a value is entered here, then it will be used on any corresponding new sessions.

Default Billing Provider under Appointment Types. 

This optional field is used to set the billing provider for new sessions. The selected billing provider will be used for a new session, assuming the student does not already have a default billing provider and there is not an authorization for the appointment with a billing provider

Default Billing Provider under Students.

This optional field is used to set the billing provider for new sessions. If the provider is always going to be the same provider for this student, then select a default provider here. The selected billing provider will be used for a new session, assuming the student authorization does not already have a default billing provider and there is not an authorization for the appointment with a billing provider. 

Certain payers are now requiring that RBT’s (Registered Behavior Technicians) be sent on the insurance claim as the Billing Provider when they are the ones rendering services.

The Therapist is Rendering Provider setting was created to support this requirement and simplify the workflow.

When this setting is enabled, the system automatically sends the Session Therapist as the Billing Provider on the claim—without requiring manual changes to defaults.
 

Overview:
The system will send the Therapist selected on the Session as the Billing Provider, instead of the actual default Billing Provider on the Authorization, Appointment type or Student default. This will only occur if the Therapist is setup as a Billing Provider on their Staff Member profile. Otherwise, it will send the actual Billing Provider default.
